Christmas for the kids...a.k.a My very late Christmas post.
I'm the youngest in my family, so being the last kid to grow up, Christmas hasn't been as kiddie as it used to be. Even the gifts grew up, with some occasional toys since my sisters and I are geeks.
This year was the first time my mother and sisters left the house for Christmas to join the Ortegas and I for dinner. That's what's so wonderful about Layla...she just made my family so much bigger. :)
And because she's such a good baby, she still managed to fall asleep at around 1030 as she was being passed around. I was telling Aba to hurry with her dessert because Layla was sleepy, but by the time we all stood by the tree, she was sound asleep. We still had our pictures taken with her, of course, but because I held her up in a sitting position, she looked like Uncle Fester, dead with no neck and head leaning to the side. Poor kid's gonna kill me when she gets older.

Aba and my sisters left right after our photo op and I put Layla to bed. Tristan and Rian were restless, so we started opening our gifts at 1130 and it was so much fun watching them rip through wrapping paper and laugh with delight. In addition to missing actually being a kid, I got all excited about Layla joining the commotion when she was a little bigger. I especially enjoyed watching Kevin help Rian assemble her My Little Pony Amusement Park, and Tristan building his B-Damman arena with such concentration.

It was honestly the best Christmas I'd ever had. And waking up to Layla on Christmas morning was magical because for the first time, she actually had a mobile to look at, a Christmas gift from Mama.
