Baby gear.
Jay and I went window shopping recently for baby items and it's really a whole new world. I was distracted by computer and digital appliance stores sometimes, but I kept reminding myself that I was shopping for the baby and not for me.
Sterilizers, strollers, teethers and brain-stimulating toys…everything’s really interesting. The crib that we’re eyeing, for one, has all sorts of extras. It has 2 layers, the first one for an infant and the lower one for when the baby becomes a toddler. It’s also got a pole for a mobile and a mosquito net, and you pull some things underneath and the crib becomes a cradle. Plus, you can fold everything into a bag. Pretty neat.
The best was the stroller. It was like shopping for a mountain bike! We’re eyeing this stroller with big wheels and shocks, and I think it’s a 6-in-1 type. The seat inside can be a car seat, and all these other extras that I can’t remember right now.
As J put it, I was like a child in a candy store. There were so many cool things and I wanted some stuff that was bordering on impractical, which is why I’m glad J’s there to pull me out of my cloud. “Pick only the necessary things first,” he said. Focus, Alia. Focus.
He did buy me one thing last weekend!

I’d been eyeing Maxibear's boxing gloves since June, but they only had blue and red at the time, with “THE CHAMP” embroidered on them. Good thing they came up with these pink ones that say "I'M A KNOCKOUT!" Even J couldn’t resist them.
What really keeps my feet on the ground, though, is the thought that the baby won’t even remember all these cute gadgets when she grows up! So yes, pick only the things we need. All the extra cute stuff can come when she’s a little older.
It was nice to look at all the toys, though, especially with my sisters around since they’re just as childish as I am. It pays to have had a happy childhood because we’re going to make sure that Layla gets the same. She’s also our new excuse to buy toys! Hehe.
I also love the fact that there are lots of sporty baby items now. The stroller, for one, is black, red and gray, while the new baby carrier at home is a sporty black, blue and gray. Carla also found this wonderful black backpack for baby bottles and what not’s. It’s perfect for me and J because even I don’t want to go around with some baby colored baby bag.
